Article Writing Tips – Commenting on Other Articles

Getting ideas for writing articles can sometimes be a problem. Well, a great way to get ideas for articles is to comment on articles that other people have written. There is a way to do this. In this article, I’m going to walk you through the process. It’s really very easy.

First of all, I’m going to assume that you want to write about something that has at least a little appeal. In other words, if you’re planning on writing about underwater pole vaulting, you’re going to have problems finding articles to comment on. So you at least need a topic that has a bit of an appeal or this isn’t going to work. Okay, now that we’ve got that squared away, let’s move on.

Let me first tell you what you’re NOT going to do. You’re not going to take facts from the article in question and report them as your own. That is plagiarism and will get you in a lot of trouble. Anything you report that ISN’T your own work you MUST cite the source that it came from. In fact, that’s the whole idea behind commenting on other articles.

Let’s take for example an article that somebody wrote on acne and they’re talking about a specific treatment for acne, say an apple diet. They talk about how great this diet is and so on. Now, you happen to know, from your own experience, that there are problems with this apple diet. So what you do, in your commenting, is say something like this.

“In John Doe’s article “The Apple Diet For Acne” John talks about how well this diet works for clearing up your acne in just a few days. What John failed to mention is that there are a number of serious risks associated with this diet that you need to be aware of. These can actually be life threatening.”

And then what you do is dedicate the rest of the article to explaining the actual risks associate with the diet.

There you go…it’s that easy.

The format is simple. You start the article by referring to the source and what that source had to say. You then go on to make your comments (pro or con) based on that information. If you can back your opinions up with facts, all the better.

Try this approach sometime.

You just might be surprised at how easy it is.
